Press Release Concerning the Second 1998 Intake of Low-Level Radioactive Waste to the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Centre in Rokkasho-Mura

The final phase of the ongoing intake of Low-level Radioactive Waste from Tsuruga nuclear power station, operated by The Japan Atomic Power Company in Fukui prefecture, was completed today.

Overland transport vehicles loaded with LLW began leaving Mutsu-Ogawara port at 9:51. The first vehicle arrived at the centre at 10:06, and the last vehicle was unloaded at 12:13. Intake of the LLW to the centre was officially completed at 12:20. The total number of the containers received today was 60 containers(480 drums), for an aggregate total of 137 containers(1096 drums).
