Press Release Concerning the First 1998 Intake of Low-Level Radioactive Waste to the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Centre in Rokkasho-Mura

The final phase of the ongoing intake of Low-level Radioactive Waste from Takahama nuclear power station, operated by Kansai Electric Company in Fukui prefecture, was completed today.

Overland transport vehicles loaded with LLW began leaving Mutsu-Ogawara port at 9:51. The first vehicle arrived at the centre at 10:07, and the last vehicle was unloaded at 15:39. Intake of the LLW to the centre was officially completed at 15:46. The total number of the containers received today was 120 containers(960 drums), for an aggregate total of 215 containers(1720 drums).
