Press Release Concerning the Eleventh 1997 Intake of Low-Level Radioactive Waste to the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Centre in Rokkasho-Mura

The final phase of the ongoing intake of Low-level Radioactive Waste form Fukushima-1 nuclear power station, operated by Tokyo Electric Company in Fukushima prefecture, was completed today.

Overland transport vehicles loaded with LLW began leaving Mutsu-Ogawara port at 9:51. The first vehicle arrived at the centre at 10:08, and the last vehicle was unloaded at 15:54. Intake of the LLW to the centre was officially completed at 15:59. The total number of the containers received today was 114 containers(912 drums), for an aggregate total of 366 containers(2928 drums).

The aggregate number of drums received by the disposal centre in 1997 is 19520 drums(in 11 intakes).
The aggregate number of drums received by the disposal centre so far is 107360 drums(in 63 intakes).
