Press Release Concerning the Intake of the Third Shipment of Vitrified Waste to the Vitrified Waste Storage Centre

Intake of the third shipment of vitrified waste to the Vitrified Waste Storage Centre was completed today. The waste is owned by Tokyo Electric Power Company, Kansai Electric Power Company, Chubu Electric Power Company and Kyushu Electric Power Company.

The above parties deeply appreciate the public's understanding and support in regard to the third shipment of vitrified waste to Japan.

"Pacific Swan", the ship transporting vitrified waste arrived at the port of Mutsu-Ogawara at 9:52 . Unloading of the transport flasks began at 13:52 and end at 15:43. The transport ship left port at 17:20. Overland transport vehicles loaded with vitrified waste began leaving the port at 16:34 for the Vitrified Waste Storage Centre in Rokkasho-Mura. The first vehicle arrived at the centre at 17:40 and the last vehicle was unloaded at 19:00. Intake of vitrified waste to the centre was officially completed at 19:25. The total number of canisters received today was 60 canisters (3 flasks).

The aggregate number of canisters received by the storage centre so far is 128 canisters (3 intakes).
