Press Release Concerning the Eighth 1997 Intake of Low-Level Radioactive Waste to the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Centre in Rokkasho-Mura

The final phase of the ongoing intake of Low-level Radioactive Waste from Onagawa nuclear power station, operated by Tohoku Electric Company in Miyagi prefecture, was completed today.

Overland transport vehicles loaded with LLW began leaving Mutsu-Ogawara port at 13:28. The first vehicle arrived at the centre at 13:42, and the last vehicle was unloaded at 15:40. Intake of the LLW to the centre was officially completed at 15:44. The total number of the containers received today was 57 containers(456 drums), for an aggregate total of 57 containers(456 drums).
