Press Release Concerning the Sixth Application for Reprocessing Facility Design and Construction at Rokkasho-Mura

JNFL announced that it today filed an application with the Director General of the Science and Technology Agency concerning the design and construction of its Rokkasho-Mura reprocessing facility.


Following are the main items of equipment in the Separation Building and Purification Building for which the application was made.

  • Separation facilities which separate materials received from the dissolution process into (1) uranium and plutonium and (2) fission products, using organic solvents, and then subsequently separate solution (1) into uranium and plutonium.
  • Purification facilities which remove fission products from the uranyl nitrate solution and the plutonium nitrate solution received from the separation process.
  • HALW Concentration Sub-Facility and HALW Storage Sub-Facility Reservoirs
