Press Release Concerning Reprocessing Facility Design and Construction Modification Application


Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited


JNFL announced that it filed an application to modify the design and construction of its reprocessing facility with the director general of the Science and Technology Agency today.


The reason for the modifications is to improve maintenance procedures for structures and facilities at reprocessing plants which have already been approved. Modifications will be reflected in design drawings for the plants. Primary modifications relate to the following:


(1) Modifications to the size and location of doors and walls in the Head End Building.


(2) Modifications to the positioning of rooms around the laundry area in the Access Control Building.
