Reprocessing Facility Sea Discharge Pipe Marker Buoy |

| JNFL reported today that one of the four buoys which indicate
the location of the Reprocessing Facility Sea Discharge Pipe outlet was
found adrift. The buoy was found some 20 km south of its installed location,
and was towed to the port of Mutsu-Ogawara. No damage to vessels caused
by the floating buoy was reported. JNFL is currently working to determine
why the buoy went adrift, and has begun repairs to prepare for its reinstallation. |

| The Sea Discharge Pipe extends some 11 kilometres from the Reprocessing
Facility (8km on land, 3km on the sea bed). The pipe is used to discharge
inspected, distilled water that has been used in the reprocessing treatment
of low-level radioactive liquid waste. |
