Water Leakage Found by Leakage Detector of Fuel
Transmission Pit in Spent Fuel Receiving/Storage
Facility

Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited

JNFL is now investigating and inspecting the pool as a whole in the spent fuel receiving/storage facility. During a patrol inspection last night, the leakage detector of fuel transmission pit identified water leakage of about one or two drops per second around 11:30 p.m.
As a result of analysis, assessment and review of the detected water, JNFL identified the possibility that the water may be leaking from the spent fuel transmission pit. Therefore, JNFL has decided to investigate the area in question in parallel with the investigation now under way.
The water drained from the leakage detector is properly treated at the liquid waste treatment facility, causing no impact on the environment.
