Completion of Preliminary Survey on Next Underground Disposal Facility for Low-Level Radioactive Wastes

JNFL has, since July 4, 2001, conducted the preliminary survey on geological features and ground water mainly by borings at the tableland located south of the Concentration/Underground Disposal Office to find out whether it is possible or not to build an underground disposal facility for low-level radioactive wastes, of which the radiation levels are relatively high. As the survey has been completed, JNFL has put together and compiled the findings as described in the exhibit. From now on, JNFL will consider plans to conduct a full-scale survey to obtain more detailed data based on the findings of the preliminary survey.
