COGEMA to Assist in Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant Tests

JNFL is pleased to announce that an agreement in principle has been reached to have COGEMA of France assist in tests to be conducted at the reprocessing plant under construction in Rokkasho-Mura, Aomori. The tests are to be carried out in preparation for the start of reprocessing operations in 2005. The exact nature of the assistance to be provided by COGEMA will be detailed in contractual agreements to be finalized at a later date. Appendix Overview of Technical Assistance Agreement 1. Assistance to be provided by COGEMA at the Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant COGEMA will provide operating experience and technological information to help ensure a smooth start-up to operations at the Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant. COGEMA personnel will be based at the plant, where they will liaise with, and provide technical assistance to, on-site JNFL personnel. 2. Assistance to be provided to JNFL personnel at COGEMA's reprocessing plant in La Hague Beginning in September 2001, JNFL and other Japanese personnel will study plant operations at COGEMA's UP3 reprocessing plant in La Hague.
