Press Release Concerning Changes in the Completion Schedule for Ongoing Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant Construction

JNFL has reviewed construction progress at the Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant and announced a revised completion date for the project. In consideration of delays already incurred, the scheduled completion date of January 2003 has been extended to July 2005. In addition, the previous construction cost estimate of 1.88 trillion yen has been increased to 2.14 trillion yen. In line with these changes, the commencement of reprocessing operations originally scheduled for April 1999 has been extended to October 1999.
