Press Release Concerning TEPCO's Decision to Suspend MOX Fuel Loading at Fukushima-Daiichi Nuclear Power Station

Tokyo Electric Power Company has announced a reversal of its plans to proceed with MOX fuel loading at the Fukushima-Daiichi Nuclear Power Station No.3 Unit. As a company engaged in the nuclear fuel cycle business, we are deeply concerned by this announcement.
Despite the announcement, the MOX fuel energy program has undiminished importance for an energy-poor nation such as Japan. We believe that the program will be continued, and we intend to move the reprocessing business forward with the cooperation of government and local authorities, and the understanding of the public at large.
