Press Release Concerning the Sixth 1997 Intake of Low-Level Radioactive Waste to the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Centre in Rokkasho-Mura

The final phase of the ongoing intake of Low-level Radioactive Waste from Hamaoka nuclear power station, operated by Chubu Electric Company in Shizuoka prefecture, was completed today.


Overland transport vehicles loaded with LLW began leaving Mutsu-Ogawara port at 9:48. The first vehicle arrived at the centre at 10:04, and the last vehicle was unloaded at 12:04. Intake of the LLW to the centre was officially completed at 12:11. The total number of the containers received today was 60 containers(480 drums), for an aggregate total of 100 containers(800 drums).
