Press Release Concerning the Fifth 1997 Intake of Low-Level Radioactive Waste to the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Centre in Rokkasho-Mura

The final phase of the ongoing intake of Low-level Radioactive Waste from Takahama nuclear power station, operated by Kansai Electric Company in Fukui prefecture, was completed today.


Overland transport vehicles loaded with LLW began leaving Mutsu-Ogawara port at 9:24. The first vehicle arrived at the centre at 9:39, and the last vehicle was unloaded at 11:49. Intake of the LLW to the centre was officially completed at 11:54. The total number of the containers received today was 60 containers(480 drums), for an aggregate total of 180 containers(1440 drums).
