Press Release Concerning the Third 1997 Intake of Low-level Radioactive Waste to the Low-level Radioactive Waste Disposal Centre in Rokkasho-Mura June 24 1997

The final phase of the ongoing intake of Low-level Radioactive Waste from Takahama nuclear power plant, operated by Kansai Electric Company, was completed today.
Overland transport vehicles loaded with LLW began leaving Mutsu-Ogawara port at 9:40. The first vehicle arrived at the centre at 9:55, and the last vehicle was unloaded at 15:37. Intake of the LLW to the centre was officially completed at 15:42. The total number of the containers received today was 120 containers(960 drums), for an aggregate total of 240 containers(1920 drums).

The aggregate number of drums received by the disposal centre in 1997 is 6080 drums(in 3 intakes).
