Press Release Concerning the First 1997 Intake of Low-level Radioactive Waste to the Low-level Radioactive Waste Disposal Centre in Rokkasho-Mura

The final phase of the ongoing intake of Low-level Radioactive Waste from Fukushima 1 nuclear power plant, operated by Tokyo Electric Company, was completed today.

Overland transport vehicles loaded with LLW began leaving Mutsu-Ogawara port at 9:24. The first vehicle arrived at the centre at 9:40, and the last vehicle was unloaded at 14:08. Intake of the LLW to the centre was officially completed at 14:15. The total number of the containers received today was 80 containers(640 drums), for an aggregate total of 320 containers(2560 drums).
