Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited
Tetsuo Takeuchi, President

On October 12, 1998, Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited (JNFL) was asked by the Federation of Electric Power Companies (FEPC) to conduct surveys of technology and safety measures related to mixed oxide (MOX) fuel processing operations adopted at facilities overseas and to draft a profile of an ideal MOX fuel processing facility for Japan. Today JNFL submitted to FEPC its final report based on the detailed investigations and studies JNFL has conducted to date. In response, JNFL received a request today from FEPC to play a central role in MOX fuel processing operations.

This request represents FEPC’s high estimation of JNFL’s knowledge about reprocessing and experience as a nuclear fuel cycle operator. JNFL will promptly commence the operations requested.
