The Rokkasho Uranium Enrichment Plant, which has been undergoing its 11th periodic inspection since September 1, 2010, obtained a certificate of approval today.

The main items inspected during the periodic inspection are as follows:

1. The operation of emergency devices, safety protection circuits, and interlocking devices
2. The capacity of radioactive waste storage facilities
3. The performance of radiation control facilities
4. Dose equivalent rate and the concentration of radioactive material in the air
5. Ability to prevent nuclear fuel material from reaching criticality and ability to prevent or control the release and the dispersion of radioactive substances
6. Other performance
