Vitrified Waste Storage Center has business license with the maximum storage capacity of 1,200 drums (200 liter drums) for low-level radioactive wastes generated in the center.

From the fact that the amount of storage of low-level radioactive wastes has gone over 1,000 drums in the center, nearing its maximum storage capacity, JNFL obtained prior understanding from Aomori Prefecture and Rokkasho Village to increase the maximum storage capacity by approximately 800 drums, making it 2,000 drums.
